For now, anyway. MMOs are hard for me to get into, and once the initial rush wore off, I find myself more inclined to play other things. However, like everything else, I'll likely be back. My wife still plays, so I'm sure I'll be on now and again.

P.S. - Okay, okay. So playing MMOs and quitting smoking don't go hand in hand. Sue me. |

I'm letting my account expire. About to have 0 time on my hands in the upcoming weeks / months.
Let me know how SW turns out. I'm skeptical! |

What the fuck. I also quit EVE yesterday. MMOs take up far too much of my time to be viable options as I discover I give a shit about things other than video games.
I am stealing a copy of Borderlands as I type this, and my pre-ordered copy of Dragonage arrives on Tuesday (I think?). Shit that I can play whenever the fuck I want without having to keep up with some curve is way more appealing. |

This has always been one of my larger complaints about MMOs. I can pick up FPS games and while I may be rusty for a few hours, and it may take me a bit of time to learn new maps, the catching up curve is small. With MMOs, if you take a break, you may be behind for months, or in some games (Lineage 2 comes to mind), forever.
Plus, MMOs, on their own, don't amount to much. There are better multiplayer games, and there are better single-player RPGs. With Dragon Age, we may even have better multiplayer RPGs. The genre is stagnant, and while some concepts have grown by leaps and bounds (raiding, instancing), others may have gotten worse (grouping, equipment grind), and most concepts have never matched their single player counterparts, or even come close. |
